Gold Coins and a Selfish Man
Sam was a greedy and selfish man. He always desired to have lots and lots of money and never hesitated to cheat others to make money. Also, he never wished to share anything with others. He paid very low wages to his servants. However, one day, he learned a lesson that changed his life forever. It so happened that one day, a small bag that belonged to Sam was missing. The bag had 50 gold coins in it. Sam searched high and low for the bag, but could not find it. Sam’s friends....



The Greedy Mouse
A greedy mouse saw a basket full of corn. He wanted to eat it. So he made a small hole in the basket. He squeezed in through the hole. He ate a lot of corn. He felt full and was very happy. Now he wanted to come out. He tried to come out through the small hole. He could not. His belly was full. He tried again. But it was of no use. The mouse started crying. A rabbit was passing by. It heard the mouse’s cry and asked, “Why are you crying, my friend?” ....



Strong or Weak
There was a proud teak tree in the forest. He was tall and strong. There was a small herb next to the tree. The teak tree said, “I am very handsome and strong. No one can defeat me.” Hearing this, the herb replied, “Dear friend, too much pride is harmful. Even the strong will fall one day.” The teak ignored the herb’s words. He continued to praise himself. A strong wind blew. The teak stood firmly. Even when it rained, the teak stood strong by spreading its leaves. During these times,....



The Jackal’s Strategy
Mahachataraka was a jackal living in a forest. One day, he found the body of an elephant and was happy that it would have food for many days. However, he was not able to bite into the thick hide of the elephant and was circling around the body when a lion came that way. The jackal humbly prostrated before the lion and said, “My lord, I am your obedient servant. At your command, I am keeping a vigil on the body of the elephant. Please help yourself.” ....




The Lion and The Frog.
There was a lion in a forest. It was sleeping under a tree near a pond. Suddenly a noise was heared. The lion was disturbed by the noise. It awake from its sleep. The noise was continuously coming from the pond. So the lion was annoyed as it was not able to sleep. There was frog in the pond. The lion came to know the frog has made the noise. It roared at the frog and the frog was frightened. It angrily jumped into the pond to catch the frog. Then the frog realised....



The Peacock and The Crane
There was a peacock who often boasted about his beauty. Everyday he walked to the banks of a large lake and looked his own reflections and said "Oh! What a beautiful bird I am! Look at my colourful tail". Once the peacock saw a crane on the banks of the lake. He said with a sneer to the crane, "What a colourless bird you are! You have no beautiful and colourful feathers like mine". The crane replied, "Of course! I don't have beautiful feathers. But, my feathers....



The Two Pots
It was a cyclonic season. There was flood everywhere. Many houses drowned in the flood. There was a copper pot and an earthen pot in a house. Both these were washed away in the flood to a river. The copper pot called the earthen pot and said, "My friend, you are made of mud. You are so weak. Please, come near me. I'll save you". The earthen pot replied, "Thank you for your kindness, my friend. But, let me swim to the bank by myself'. The earthen pot began to swim towards the bank of the river. As....



Two Silly Goats
There lived two silly goats in a village.There was a narrow bridge over a river in the village.One day, the goats wanted to cross the bridge. One silly goat was on one side.The other one was on the other side.One of them said,“I shall go first. Allow me to pass." The other goat said, “No. I must cross first. You move aside."Neither of them yielded.At last, they came to the middle of the bridge. They began to fight terribly. As they were fighting,....




The Wolf and The Crane
Once a wolf killed a lamb and started eating it. Suddenly a piece of bone stuck in its throat. It cried out of pain and called for help. There came a crane. The wolf lured the crane that it will give lot of rewards. The greedy crane immediately agreed and removed the piece of bone with its long nose. The wolf was relieved of its pain. Then the crane asked for the rewards. The wolf laughed at the crane and said, "I have already rewarded you without biting....



Two Friends and The Bear
Vijay and Raju were friends. On a holiday they went into a forest. They were enjoying the beauty of nature. Suddenly they saw a bear coming at them. They were frightened. Raju who knew climbing trees ran up to a tree and climbed up quickly. He did not think of Vijay. Vijay did not know tree climbing. Vijay thought for a second. He had heard animals do not prefer dead bodies. He fell to the ground and held his breath. The bear sniffed him and thought he was dead.....
